The Covens Society
The Hill
The first Coven to be established, they were not always the bane of the Divine as they are today. Once, the Hill protected civilization in its infancy. Protecting new settlements that prospered into the cities we know today against forces that lurked in the darkness. Now, in our modern era, they have shifted their spears from atop of walls, aiming them at the stars where the Divine plot and prepare.
The Patel
Forming just after the Hill, the Patel are the primary defenders of Earth, treating the very land they walk on as their patron. Each Patel has a special connection to the planet, feeling it guide them towards threats that would aim to harm its very existence. Where other Covens specialize in taking down specific threats, the Patel operate with ambiguity, working at the will of the Earth and taking down threats that would dare to oppose her.
The Florentina
With the passing of time, the world changes. Magic evolves, and so does its usage. It is the goal of the Florentina to observe and study that very evolution. As more threats descend towards Earth, it is only with the knowledge provided by the Florentina that the Society stands boldly against its foes. For when there is a new discovery that changes civilization, it can be said that the Florentina knew about it first.
The Vital
Eyes lurk in even the farthest reaches of Earth, revealing sights observed by none but the Vital. Nobody knows about the Vital, not even the lords of the society themselves. Only their lord, Marisol Vital, has ever been seen, and those sightings are few in number. Not much is known about the Ward of the Covens; all the society knows is that if a threat is on Earth, the Vital are searching for them. Every Coven awaits their call, never questioning who sends the letter but always answering.
The Roth
No other Coven is feared so greatly as the Roth. Out beyond the walls of the society, their name is whispered in hushed tones and followed by a chill down one's spine. There is no greater threat to the Infernal than the Roth, the Coven whose sole purpose is to purge their kind, doing so with neither mercy nor fear. They are led by Lady Thalaroth, once a ruler of the Infernal herself; she has since sworn allegiance to the Society, creating a force aimed to annihilate those who have betrayed her, so that she may one day retake her land.
The Miyamoto
Formed in 1606 by Miyamoto Musashi, the greatest duelist in history. The Miyamoto focus on eliminating rogue mages who use magic for malicious intent. They hunt the criminal underworld and are known for their calculated, disciplined approach.
The Fiore
When our realm collides with another, tears between our worlds form, and through those tears, monsters emerge. It is only through the actions of the Fiore that we sleep soundly at night without a true monster lurking under our bed. Our credit goes towards the family of hunters that stalks even the most dangerous of apex predators. Predators of various sizes and shapes, all with the capability to uproot our civilization. It is the Fiore that prevent this outcome and stand against the monsters we can only imagine in our nightmares.
The Assaf
The last of the Eight Covens, formed in 1686. This Coven focuses on obtaining and storing dangerous magical artifacts sold, traded, and used throughout the criminal underground. Their operatives often master undercover techniques to blend in and occupy the syndicate world. They are among the most pursued by criminals and typically carry the highest bounties on their heads.
